Well, my "little vacation" ended up lasting two and a half years... funny how life steers your life in directions you weren't planning on. I'll start off with occasional posts, but I fully plan to resume this blog to full speed by the new year.

I hope you'll come back for frequent visits, to see new reviews, to share opinions, to take a survey (or two), and to celebrate the shows and show people that have made the TheatreScene!

Broadway Crossword by Blog #3: The New Season

It has been a long while since my last Crossword by Blog, and with the start of the 2010-2011 season just underway, I thought that this month would be a great time start a new one all about the shows, creators and stars of the upcoming Broadway season!  I tried to include everything, but the puzzle maker program might have left something out.  No matter, it'll still be fun.
  • This puzzle is a perfect square: 38 blocks across by 38 blocks down.
  • This week I'll provide clues for all the words that are in the first seven lines, or at least start somewhere within the first seven lines. You can assume that any unaccounted for blocks are black; the rest are blocks to be filled with letters.
  • At the bottom of each of these blogs, I'll re-write the clues like standard crossword puzzles do. And the pictures included are clues to the answers, too.

Here we go!

1. 1 Across: Row 1, Block 3. 21 letters: The first Yazbeck/Lane Broadway musical.
2. 2 Down: Row 1, Block 6.  19 letters: The first show to play the Stephen Sondheim Theatre.
3. 3 Down: Row 1, Block 30.  7 letters: A state for Scottsboro.
4. 4 Down: Row 1, Block 32.  12 letters: TV show that made Justin Guarini famous.
5. 5 Down: Row 1, Block 35.  11 letters: Lombardi's female star.
6. 6 Down: Row 2, Block 25.  14 letters: Broadway's new multi-media play.
7. 7 Across: Row 3, Block 2.  15 letters: Star of Equus and the new How to Succeed...
8. 8 Down: Row 3, Block 22.  8 letters: Song title: "_______" Yea, Yea".
9.  9 Across: Row 4, Block 20.  14 letters: A superior producer of Sister Act.
