HERE'S WHAT'S NEW:

Well, my "little vacation" ended up lasting two and a half years... funny how life steers your life in directions you weren't planning on. I'll start off with occasional posts, but I fully plan to resume this blog to full speed by the new year.

I hope you'll come back for frequent visits, to see new reviews, to share opinions, to take a survey (or two), and to celebrate the shows and show people that have made the TheatreScene!

Broadway Ladies: Ms. Broadway May 2011: Laura Osnes

Ms. Broadway May 2011
Laura Osnes

WHY SHE'S MS. BROADWAY: She's no longer just the girl who won her way onto Broadway via a reality show, that's for sure!  She is an in-demand Broadway up and comer, who, in the space of a just over a year has been a critically acclaimed replacement in South Pacific, starred in two regional productions of the Broadway bound musical Bonnie and Clyde, and is now co-starring as the lovely voiced ingenue in one of the hottest shows on Broadway, Anything Goes.  For this role Ms. Osnes has been nominated for the Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding Featured Actress in a Musical, as well as the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Featured Actress in a Musical. She was also nominated for an Astaire Award, for excellence in dance. She has gotten to work with some really heavy hitters in Kathleen Marshall (Grease and Anything Goes), Bartlett Sher (South Pacific) and Frank Wildhorn (Bonnie and Clyde).  And she has worked with some pretty incredible talent onstage, too: Paolo Szot, Sutton Foster and Joel Grey, as well has some terrific up and coming Broadway leading men like Colin Donnell, Stark Sands and Jeremy Jordan.  Whether she's holding her own onstage with theatre royalty or making her leading men (and the audience) eat out of the palm of her hand, one thing is for sure: Laura Osnes is a Broadway talent to be reckoned with!

OTHER INFORMATION:
  • Birthdate: November 19, 1985, making her 25.
