HERE'S WHAT'S NEW:

Well, my "little vacation" ended up lasting two and a half years... funny how life steers your life in directions you weren't planning on. I'll start off with occasional posts, but I fully plan to resume this blog to full speed by the new year.

I hope you'll come back for frequent visits, to see new reviews, to share opinions, to take a survey (or two), and to celebrate the shows and show people that have made the TheatreScene!

TheatreScene: The Week in Pictures: October 10 - 16

BROADWAY MESSAGE OF THE WEEK:
  • October 11 was National Coming Out Day, and Jujamcyn Theatre President Jordan Roth had an important message to share.  CLICK HERE to read what he had to say.  (Thank you to MJ for the head's up on this story.)

BROADWAY PHOTO AND ARTICLE OF THE WEEK:

  • The cover of Time Out New York - the cover title says it all (as does the photo without all the words)!

Without all the words, the picture is even steamier!
Venus in Fur's Hugh Dancy and Nina Arianda pose for Time Out New York.

  • And if that isn't enough, CLICK HERE for the 20 Kinkiest Moments On and Off-Broadway!
BROADWAY VIDEO OF THE WEEK:

  • She's back!  Broadway's biggest cheerleader is back with The Rosie Show on the OWN Network.  And even though Rosie O'Donnell is now in Chicago, it bodes well that withing three days of her premiere, she's already got Broadway coming to her!  First up, Priscilla Queen of the Desert with "It's Raining Men" and "I Will Survive."

  • The National Tour of Million Dollar Quartet began today in Cleveland, Ohio.

October 14:

  • Hugh Jackman: Back on Broadway announces a hefty $6 million dollar advance sale.  You go, Hugh!
  • The National Tour of Memphis began performances today in Memphis, Tennessee.  Hockadoo!  It opened on October 16.

NEW TO BROADWAY CASTS THIS WEEK:

The new Jersey Boys: Quinn VanAntwerp, Jarrod Spector,
Andy Karl and Matt Bogart
  • Jersey Boys welcomed Andy Karl and Quinn VanAntwerp on October 11.
Mary Poppins: Does she realize that she
isn't still holding her umbrella?
  • Mary Poppins has a new Mary Poppins as of October 11.  Her name is Steffanie Leigh, and she's practically perfect!
