HERE'S WHAT'S NEW:

Well, my "little vacation" ended up lasting two and a half years... funny how life steers your life in directions you weren't planning on. I'll start off with occasional posts, but I fully plan to resume this blog to full speed by the new year.

I hope you'll come back for frequent visits, to see new reviews, to share opinions, to take a survey (or two), and to celebrate the shows and show people that have made the TheatreScene!

Broadway Boys: Mr. April 2012: Andrew Keenan-Bolger

Mr. April 2012
Andrew Keenan-Bolger

WHY HE'S MR. BROADWAY: He's the ultimate sidekick in a show about overcoming obstacles, battling the big guys in that David vs Goliath kind of way.  No, I'm not talking about the Occupy Movement.  This guy is in Disney's Newsies, the biggest hit show Mickey and Company have had on their hands in years.  Of course, if you know anything about Mr. April, you know he has made a professional career thanks in large part to Disney Theatricals - he's appeared in Mary Poppins on tour and on Broadway, and he was part of the world premiere of the stage version of Disney's Aladdin.  No stranger to family-friendly fare, he's also done much work on behalf of the Doctor - Seuss, I mean, having appeared in Seussical and the National Tour of How the Grinch Stole Christmas.  You might - if Seuss and Walt aren't your cup of tea - have seen him in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.  Of course, if you are reading this blog, chances are you are all about theatre on the Internet, and here is where the latest Mr. Broadway separates himself from his peers. He has starred in the web series The Battery's Down, and now produces and directs one of his own creation: Submissions Only.  He also has his own website, does a regular video blog for Newsies and is a regular on Twitter.  One of the really good guys in the New York theatre scene, on stage and off, it is no wonder that Andrew Keenan-Bolger is Mr. Broadway for April 2012!
