Mr. July 2012
Max von Essen

WHY HE'S MR. BROADWAY:  If you have had the good fortune to see him perform on stage, you understand exactly why Max von Essen is Mr. Broadway!  Did you see him in the final company of Les Miserables, or maybe in the revival company of Les Miserables where he played Enjolras?  Maybe you were one of the few who caught him in the legendary cult favorite Dance of the Vampires.  Off Broadway, he most recently appeared in Death Takes a Holiday and on tour, he played Sonny to Elizabeth Stanley's (Ms. Broadway May 2010) Kira in Xanadu.  Regionally, he's played everything from Jesus in Superstar and Joseph in Dreamcoat to Tony in West Side Story and the Emcee in Cabaret.  Of course, you might have seen him as Magaldi in the new revival of Evita, currently on Broadway.  And this first week of July and for a spell in August, he'll be alternating in the role of Che while Ricky Martin is on vacation.  A fixture at Broadway community events, and a riot on Twitter, he connects with fans who adore him.  Just what a talented actor-singer-dancer should have: an enviable, varied stage career and the respect of colleagues and fans alike.  No wonder Max von Essen is Mr. Broadway for July 2012!

PERSONAL NOTE: I'd like to thank Mr. von Essen for his help, contributions and input with this blog entry, and for helping me with yesterday's #SIP blog.  He is a real class act, Broadway fans.  One of the good guys.
