Well, my "little vacation" ended up lasting two and a half years... funny how life steers your life in directions you weren't planning on. I'll start off with occasional posts, but I fully plan to resume this blog to full speed by the new year.

I hope you'll come back for frequent visits, to see new reviews, to share opinions, to take a survey (or two), and to celebrate the shows and show people that have made the TheatreScene!

Broadway Ladies: Ms. July 2012: Lindsay Mendez

Ms. Broadway July 2012
Lindsay Mendez

WHY SHE'S MS. BROADWAY: Even though her current project, as the leading lady of Dogfight, brings her off-Broadway, she is definitely a Broadway star on the rise.  Regionally, she's appeared in a variety of projects including Jacques Brell..., Footloose and The Marvelous Wonderettes.  She also co-starred in the pre-Broadway runs of David Zippel's Princesses.  On Broadway, she's been Jan in the revival of Grease, co-starred with Sherie Renee Scott as one of the "Mennonettes" in Everyday Rapture, and most recently, was the "Bless the Lord" gal tearing up the revival of Godspell.  If you've ever seen Lindsay Mendez perform, you know that she's a 100% kind of gal:  she sings, acts, dances... just IS at 100% at all times.  And with Dogfight, she enters the realm of leading ladies.  No wonder she's Ms. Broadway for July 2012!

Family: Husband: Michael Borth, a musical director, including The Marvelous Wonderettes in which she co-starred.
Education: Lindsay joined the "professional world of theatre" right after graduating from a performing arts high school in California.
Her passions/interests: She is a supporter of BC/EFA, and will be performing at the Broadway Stands Up for Freedom on July 23rd for the New York Civil Liberties Union.  She also supports up and coming composers including Pasek and Paul (Dogfight) and Robert Scott Oliver (35mm). Jazz music, collaborating with Marcos Paguia.
Where you might have seen her: Regional: Jacques Brell is Alive and Well and Living in Paris, Footloose, The Marvelous Wonderettes, Princesses, Love's Labour's Lost, Band Geeks; Off-Broadway: Everyday Rapture, Dogfight; Broadway: Grease, Everyday Rapture, Godspell.
