HERE'S WHAT'S NEW:

Well, my "little vacation" ended up lasting two and a half years... funny how life steers your life in directions you weren't planning on. I'll start off with occasional posts, but I fully plan to resume this blog to full speed by the new year.

I hope you'll come back for frequent visits, to see new reviews, to share opinions, to take a survey (or two), and to celebrate the shows and show people that have made the TheatreScene!

12 Shows of Broadway Christmas

No, there will not be 5 golden rings - though there may be 5 golden plates when you see The Book of Mormon.  But chances are pretty good that more than once you could see 9 ladies dancing - most likely at Nice Work If You Can Get It.  Newsies will provide more than 10 lords a-leaping, but I'm afraid The Mystery of Edwin Drood has but one of the six geese - but it ain't a-laying, it's cooked (by Bazzard, no less)!  Likewise, Once may provide several, but not a full dozen drummers drumming, and there are at least 8 maids in Bring It On: The Musical, but they're a-cheering, not a-milking!

And, you can have all 12 Days of Broadway Christmas if you plan it just right (and have a decent amount of money).  OK, not 12 Days but 6 matinees and 6 evening shows in just 7 days.  Here's just one possible way to see 12 Broadway shows starting on Monday, Christmas Eve.

Here's one way to see all 11 plays (plus 1 musical to fill it out) on Broadway:

Golden Boy
(Through January 20 at the Belasco Theatre)

Monday, 12.24 - Peter and the Starcatcher
Tuesday, 12.25 - Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?
Wednesday, 12.26 Matinee - Golden Boy
Wednesday, 12.26 Evening - Glengarry Glen Ross
Thursday, 12.27 Matinee - Cat on a Hot Tin Roof
Thursday, 12.27 Evening - The Other Place

Picnic
(Through February 24 at the American Airlines Theatre)

Friday, 12.28 Matinee - War Horse
Friday, 12.28 Evening - Grace
Saturday, 12.29 Matinee - Picnic
Saturday, 12.29 Evening - The Heiress
Sunday, 12.30 Matinee - Bring It On: The Musical (Catch the final performance!)
Sunday, 12.30 Evening - Dead Accounts

Here's one for musical fans - including all 6 new musicals from this season (that are still running), plus tickets for the toughest "gets" of all, Once, Wicked, Newsies and The Book of Mormon!

Chaplin: The Musical

Friday, 12.28 Evening - The Mystery of Edwin Drood
Saturday, 12.29 Matinee - Newsies

Sunday, 12.30 Matinee - Bring It On: The Musical (Catch the final performance!)
Sunday, 12.30 Evening - Wicked

Bring It On: The Musical
(Through December 30 at the St. James Theatre)

Never fear...you can ring in the New Year with the rest of the musicals you missed this week with the special schedule of shows for New Year's week!

NOTE: If the title is highlighted above, click it to read my review of that show!
