Well, my "little vacation" ended up lasting two and a half years... funny how life steers your life in directions you weren't planning on. I'll start off with occasional posts, but I fully plan to resume this blog to full speed by the new year.

I hope you'll come back for frequent visits, to see new reviews, to share opinions, to take a survey (or two), and to celebrate the shows and show people that have made the TheatreScene!

Face of the Future: Spider-Man's Jake Epstein

How nice it is to write about Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark and not write about backstage discord, lawsuits or near-death experiences.  And how nice to write about a Broadway newbie whose work I am familiar with!  He's a fresh face to Broadway, for sure - he made his debut just yesterday, December 8.  Teens and now twenty-somethings may know him from the Canadian TV series, Degrassi: The Next Generation.  I (and those of you who attend theatre outside New York) know him from the National Tours of Spring Awakening (as Melchior) and American Idiot (a Will).  Good-looking and abundantly talented, I have a feeling Jake Epstein's will be a face Broadway fans will be seeing long after his web-slinging days are over.

The Canadian actor starred in CTV's Degrassi: The Next Generation

Epstein starred as CB in the Canadian debut of
Dog Sees God with several of his Degrassi co-stars

Epstein was Melchior to Christy Altomare's
Wendla in the National Tour of Spring Awakening

As Will in the National Tour of American Idiot

At the L.A. Opening of American Idiot

Scott J. Campbell, Van Hughes and Jake Epstein

And finally...
Backstage with Mary Jane:
