Well, my "little vacation" ended up lasting two and a half years... funny how life steers your life in directions you weren't planning on. I'll start off with occasional posts, but I fully plan to resume this blog to full speed by the new year.

I hope you'll come back for frequent visits, to see new reviews, to share opinions, to take a survey (or two), and to celebrate the shows and show people that have made the TheatreScene!

Broadway Boys: Mr. May 2014: Nick Cordero

Mr. May 2014
Nick Cordero

WHY HE'S MR. BROADWAY: Hmmm. A no-brainer.  Nick Cordero is giving a career-defining performance in Bullets Over Broadway. It is one of those things you just know when you see it.  The show is better every minute he's on stage, and is missing something when he's off. And this has been coming for a while, after a nice career in regional theatre, with roles in such varied shows as The Pirates of Penzance, The Last Five Years, Fiddler on the Roof and Blood Brothers. Then, New York critics and audiences alike got to know him in the off-Broadway hit musical, The Toxic Avenger. But it was the First National Tour of Rock of Ages that got him going in this direction.  He played the role of Dennis, and later, made his debut in that show on Broadway!  The rest, as they say, is history.  Whether or not he takes home the Tony next month, I'm pretty sure this isn't the last we will see of Mr. Broadway, May 2014! (I bet everyone in his native Canada is cheering him on, too!)
