THE FRIDAY 5:
LOOKING FORWARD TO
THE 2018 TONY AWARDS

5. The Speeches

How many "Me Too" comments will there be? How about thanking a same-sex partner? Who will give the now-obligatory "OK, kids, you can go to bed now" speech? How many people will get played off? Better yet, who won't care and keep talking over the band? Of course, the veiled and not-so-veiled comments about the Orange Monster - how many? I'm good with all of the above!

4. The Musical Performances

I know that most of the time, the live performances are almost never as good over the TV as they want to be. But I am looking forward to Caissie Levy belting her face off, and whatever The Band's Visit comes up with.

3. The Shocking Upset

Every year there is at least one. They sure make the show interesting.  I just hope this year, I'll be happy for the upset winner...

2. The Opening Number

I do miss the loving extravaganzas of the Neil Patrick Harris days... but I'm always hopeful that the show will start off with a bang... and I love the "insider-y" puns and jokes. Hard to believe just a year ago, Kevin Spacey was donning the Evan Hansen cast...

1. The Hosts

I love both Josh Groban and Sara Bareilles, they are talented, have theater nerd cred, and are funny as hell.  Their Tony Awards ads are a riot, and I expect the same come Sunday night!
