Broadway Box Office
Week #10 of the 2012 - 2013 Season
July 30 - August 5; 28 Productions

This week saw three shows close and two open - pretty busy for a midsummer week!  Fela! went out with a surge in attendance, climbing up 6 on the chart, and the limited engagement of Harvey closed out the week with the highest attendance of any show this week (103% capacity).  The long-running Tony-winning musical, Memphis, saw a decent uptick and finishing its run in the black.  Bring It On: The Musical opened to better than expected reviews (see what I thought HERE), but dropped on the chart due mostly to its average ticket price ($48.54),  Consider though, that this figure includes preview pricing and a mostly comped Opening Night.  The other opener, Mike Tyson: Undisputed Truth did surprisingly well with a huge average ticket price of $120.49.  Seems folks are willing to pay a lot to see the guy up close.  Evita continues it giant mood swings, this week down by 13.8% capacity and a whopping -$233K.  This coming week could prove interesting as Ricky Martin is taking his second scheduled vacation.  Max von Essen is getting raves from the Rialto and Evita fans alike.  The shows with imminent closings are all hovering at the bottom of the chart (can War Horse be far behind?); looks like producers know what they are doing!
